Chelsea have made a loan bid to sign Edinson Cavani, the Uruguay forward who wants to leave PSG this month.
Frank Lampard has refused to play down rumours of interest in Cavani, 32, though he said earlier this week loan signings are more likely than permanent deals for the Blues this month.
And The Times claim a bid has been presented to PSG with Chelsea hoping to sign Cavani on a temporary basis until the end of the season, when he will then become a free agent.

Chelsea have offered to cover the entirety of Cavani’s £360,000-a-week salary and also pay a loan fee of £5million.
PSG, however, would prefer to sell Cavani on a permanent basis – and they’re asking for as much as £23m for the former Napoli striker.
He handed in a transfer request earlier this week amid interest from Atletico Madrid, and Paris know letting Cavani leave on loan would mean they miss out on a sizeable transfer fee, as he becomes a free agent when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Lampard, the Chelsea manager, appears to have been pressed into action by Tuesday’s 2-2 home draw with Arsenal.
He saw his side fail to convert numerous chances and drop more points, and first-choice centre-forward Tammy Abraham also appeared to pick up an injury – the severity of which has not yet been determined.

Ahead of Tuesday’s fixture, Lampard admitted he’s a fan of Cavani when quizzed on the proposed transfer.
Hes a great player,” said the Blues boss. “I played against him and I always loved his mentality and attitude, and obviously his goalscoring record speaks for itself.
Im not absolutely aware of what the situation is, so well see. Hes an experienced player, but so are many other players out there.
I think we are young, and we know about the transitions. The idea of bringing in experience is something Im certainly not absolutely looking away from.
Because sometimes the young players need a little bit of help, and if thats the case then that may help us.
