- Nintendo Switch gamers dont have much to look forward to in 2020.
- The gaming company is padding out the year with ports and a remaster.
- Some of Nintendos biggest games may not launch until 2021.
Nintendo Switch owners are likely going to suffer a dry year of gaming in 2020 thanks to a stunning lack of major releases.
Currently, there are only five big titles coming to the Nintendo Switch this year. Worse is the fact that some of these arent even new games.
Starting 2020 with a Port Isnt a Good Sign

The first big game landing on Switch is Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore, which comes out on Jan. 17. This is a port of a game that originally showed up on the Wii U.
After this, Nintendo Switch owners will have to wait until March 20 for Animal Crossing: New Horizons to launch. While Animal Crossing is a fun game, its not a major time killer and works best in small doses.
That means gamers are going to want something extra to sink their teeth into. Unfortunately, this is the last major title of the year with a confirmed release date.

The other big Nintendo Switch games coming out this year are Bravely Default 2, No More Heroes 3, and Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition. That last one is a remaster of a game that originally came out on the Wii.
Theres also room for some surprise announcement this year, but gamers shouldnt get their hopes up just yet.
According to recent rumors, Nintendo is planning to port over two more Wii U games to the Switch. Its still unknown which games these are, but it doesnt change the fact that they are older titles.
Nintendo Still Has a Chance to Surprise Switch Owners

It looks like Nintendo is trying to pad out 2020. We know that the company has several other games in development for the Switch, but they might not be ready in time for a 2020 release.
But its still possible that Nintendo Switch owners will get a surprise this year. We dont know when Bayonetta 3 or the Breath of the Wild sequel are coming out, but 2020 releases are possible.
Theres another big Nintendo Switch title in the works with Metroid Prime 4, but theres no way that hits shelves earlier than 2021. Another rumor claims that a Super Metroid remake is in the works, but take that with a grain of salt.

This weeks Pokemon Direct previewed some new DLC for Sword and Shield, but the announcement didnt go over all that well for Nintendo.
All in all, it looks like 2020 is going to be a dry year for Nintendo Switch owners.
