North Macedonia CT Igor Agnelovski has claimed that Eljif Elmas seems “very happy” at Napoli and pointed out that Gennaro Gattuso gave him “confidence”.
The 20-year old North Macedonia international arrived from Fenerbahce last summer and has collected 23 games, contributing one goal in the process.
He has already earned 18 caps for his country and his international coach has revealed that he keeps in touch with the starlet.
“I often hear from Eljif, and he’s a bit scared, he’s a young boy,” Agnelovski told Radio Marte. “He’s in Italy with his family, they feel Italian and in solidarity with the whole country. There’s concern for the situation.”
North Macedonia are currently preparing to face Kosovo in the playoff of the European Championship Qualification and Agnelovski reassures that Elmas would be able to participate despite having struggled with an injury.
“He has a small injury, I confronted the medical staff at Napoli, who is not overloading him at the moment,” Agnelovski added. “Eljif reassured me that if he were to play the game against Kosovo, he would be available, at least from a physical point of view, therefore it’s nothing serious.
So far, he has appeared seven times in Serie A under the new Partenopei coach Gennaro Gattuso and has been given extra experience in the Coppa Italia.
“What makes him happy is being in Naples,” Agnelovski added. “It took a while with Gattuso, but then he gave him confidence and at least in sporting terms, Eljif is very happy in this period.”
