Sega announced on Jan. 31, 2020 that it would begin shipping all of its physical PC releases in fully recyclable packaging. It follows a trial with the November 2019 launch of Football Manager 2020.

Sega will deliver all of its PC games in fully recycled packaging from now on, the company said on Thursday, as part of its ongoing efforts in conservation and environmental awareness.
The change begins with the Feb. 6 launch of Total War: Rome 2 – Enemy at the Gates Edition. Sega had previously tested a physical release with recycled packaging with Novembers Football Manager 2020.

Fully recycled packaging, means 100% recycled and recyclable cardboard, as well as 100% recycled manual. The printing uses water and vegetable-based inks, and is shrink-wrapped with low-density polyethylene. The disc itself is recyclable via specialists, Sega said in a news release.
While this approach does come at an extra cost to Sega Europe, this is in part offset by cheaper distribution, Sega said. The savings will be realized in lower fuel costs to ship lighter products and cheaper destruction costs for the fully recyclable materials.
Total War: Rome 2 – Enemy at the Gates Edition packages the 2013 grand strategy with three downloadable content expansions: Hannibal at the Gates, Imperator Augustus (both from 2014)and Empire Divided (2017).
